Acting is playing “let’s pretend.” When you
play “let’s pretend” with friends, you may
make believe that you are a nurse or a firemen
or a musicians. You are acting when you
pretend to be someone else.
On television, an actor will pretend to be a
policeman or a housewife. The actor may wear
a costume or put on make-up. This helps the
audience believe the performance.
People who work as actor and actresses are
paid to perform on TV or in movies. There are
also actors on the radio. And there are actors
